This name means inhabitant of Flanders, many of whom emigrated from Flanders to Britain, settling on the Scottish borders, around the year 1200 . The Irish Flemings however were in Ireland approximately four centuries before this. The name is scattered throughout the Country but most common in County Meath.

The hand knit Fleming sweater has an unusual cable plait centre stitch. This is flanked by braid, cable and zig zags on both sides. The cable symbolises good luck. The zig zags represent the ups and downs of marriage. This beautiful hand knitted Aran sweater has been hand knitted in the traditional báinin (pronounced ‘baw neen’) colour, the natural white of the wool. It comes to you complete with a Clan history and crest. It is made of 100% pure new wool, is water repellent and breathable. It has been hand crafted in the traditional Irish style, and with care, will last a lifetime.
