The surname Hanley or Hanly is the Anglicised form of the Irish name O Hainle – possibly derived from áulinn meaning beautiful. Nowadays the name is principally found in two areas, in Connacht - Counties Roscommon and Galway and in Munster in County Cork where it is spelt Hanley.

The hand knit Hanly sweater has a central panel of ropes flanked by cable and moss filled diamonds. The cable and rope stitch represent a wish for good luck. The diamond stitch symbolises a wish for wealth. This beautiful hand knitted Aran sweater has been hand knitted in the traditional báinin (pronounced ‘baw neen’) colour, the natural white of the wool. It comes to you complete with a Clan history and crest. It is made of 100% pure new wool, is water repellent and breathable. It has been hand crafted in the traditional Irish style, and with care, will last a lifetime.
