O hEigceartaigh, O' Hegarty.

The word eigceartach means unjust. The original O’ Hegarty sept were located on the borders of the counties Donegal and Derry. A branch of this family migrated to County Cork, where the name is now most common.

The hand knit Hegarty sweater incorporates cable rope and moss stitches. The moss stitch represents nature. The rope stitch is a form of cable which represents good luck. This beautiful hand knitted Aran sweater has been hand knitted in the traditional báinin (pronounced ‘baw neen’) colour, the natural white of the wool. It comes to you complete with a Clan history and crest. It is made of 100% pure new wool, is water repellent and breathable. It has been hand crafted in the traditional Irish style, and with care, will last a lifetime.
