Ó Riagáin comes from the Gaelic word “ríodhgach”, possibly meaning ‘impulsive’ or ‘angry’. The name originated in at least three distinct areas of the country ; Meath / Dublin, where they were one of the four tribes of Tara, Thomond in Co. Limerick where they were part of the Dál gCais tribal grouping, and Fermoy in Co. Cork. Today the name is the sixty sixth most numerous in Ireland, and is strongest in the province of Munster.

The hand knit Regan sweater has a honeycomb central panel, flanked by lobster and chevron on either side. The honeycomb symbolises work, and lobster stitch is a wish for prosperity. This beautiful Aran sweater has been hand knitted in the traditional báinín (pronounced ‘baw neen’) colour, the natural white of the wool. It comes to you complete with a clan history and crest. It is made of 100% pure new wool, is water repellent and breathable. It has been hand crafted in the traditional Irish style, and, with care, will last a lifetime.
